Swipe right ?? for Orcas in the wild! ?????? This Orca is the subject of one of my new lessons just released (see my story or Highlights for link). Huge thanks go to @deborahburnsart, who took me out on the water to see these beautiful families of J, K and L pods of North America. We left from Seattle, journeyed through the San Juan Islands, and ended up level with Vancouver Island, Canada. It was an epic day that I'll remember forever! ??

Last Saturday gave us the lowest tide I've ever seen at my local reefy beach. Combine that with scorching temperatures (we've broken records for 41C+ /105F temps this time of year), and the sea plants and creatures were really hit hard. With the high tide not due for another 12 hours, I managed to rescue quite a few abalone, starfish/seastars & assorted shelled critters who were left stranded and drying out. This Octopus was amazing with his colour changes. Starting off deep red in the water and seaweeds, he changed to match his surroundings as searched the rockpools for unwary crabs. ?????? He's happy at the end under that little limestone ledge. I'll be uploading more footage (above and below the water) to my story's and highlights ??
Tiny treasures are the best. ???? From last weekend's extraordinarily low tide.
The final day to claim your discounted Paint the Ocean online course, using my exclusive link (in my Bio and Stories) with marine artist @scottchristensenartist ???? ? Summer is officially here in Australia! I've spent the weekend in the water and reef and will share some of my adventures with you soon. This is the shortened version of my surf pastel painting. There are so many wonderful ways to paint the ocean. Using seawater in my watercolors connects me just that little bit more to our beautiful marine world. Here I've combined the ?? constellations of Gemini ?? & Taurus ??. Don't forget to use #seascapeshare to share your own ocean paintings ???? ?? Epoch by Jon Luc Hefferman
